Expectations

  • No one has the right to interfere with the learning, safety or well being of others.
  • Be prepared and bring your supplies to class.
  • Come to class on time.
  • I encourage parents to contact me so that we can all work together.

Grading

Test and quizzes are worth 40%

Homework, class participation and assignments are worth 60%

The only assignments to be made up are from excused absences.

 

Earth Science Overview

The Earth Science course will focus on the topics of Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology and Astronomy. We hope to develop an appreciation and understanding of our Earth. Each child will be responsible for setting up an experiment or doing a research paper on a topic in any of the four areas.

 

Areas

  • Geology (Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Fossils and Rocks, The Parts of the Earth, Evidence of Change, Interactions of Earth Systems)
  • Oceanography(Deep Sea Trenches, Mid Ocean Ridges, Quality of Water, Water Cycle, Conservation)
  • Meteorology(Influences of the Weather, Effects on the Environment and Daily Activities)
  • Astronomy(Big Bang Theory, Solar System, Tilt and Rotation of the Earth, Seasons)
